1. High temperature resistance: PEEK is one of the most heat-resistant thermoplastic materials available. Its melting point is as high as 343°C, and its long-term use temperature can reach 260°C. It can even maintain excellent mechanical properties at 300°C. 12. The heat deformation temperature varies according to the material. The heat deformation temperature of unreinforced PEEK is 135~160°C, while the heat deformation temperature of 20% glass fiber reinforced PEEK can reach 286°C, and 30% glass fiber reinforced PEEK can reach 300°C. 2. Good mechanical properties: PEEK has excellent mechanical properties, with a perfect combination of toughness and rigidity. Its strength and fatigue resistance are comparable to those of some metals and alloy materials. Even at high temperatures, PEEK can maintain high strength. For example, the bending strength at 200°C can reach 24MPa, and the bending strength and compressive strength at 250°C can still reach 12~13 MPa.
3. Chemical resistance: PEEK is highly resistant to most chemical agents, including acids, alkalis and organic solvents, and is therefore often used in corrosive media transmission equipment in the chemical industry.
PEEK is insoluble in any solvent except concentrated sulfuric acid and has high chemical stability.
4. Wear resistance and self-lubrication: PEEK resin itself has excellent self-lubrication and wear resistance. The friction coefficient of the filled resin can be reduced to 0.15, and the wear loss is extremely low.
It can achieve oil-free lubrication and is used in many harsh environments such as high temperature, high load and high speed. It is an excellent bearing material.
5. Other characteristics:
Radiation resistance: PEEK has extremely strong radiation resistance, and its mechanical properties can still be relatively intact under high-dose gamma rays.
Flame retardancy: PEEK is self-extinguishing and can reach the UL standard 94V-0 level even without any flame retardant.
Creep resistance: PEEK is the best creep resistance material among thermoplastic resins. It can withstand great stress during its service life without significant elongation over time.
Biocompatibility: Due to its biocompatibility, PEEK is widely used in the medical field, especially in the manufacture of implants such as spinal implants and dental products.
Good dimensional stability: PEEK has a small linear expansion coefficient (close to that of metal aluminum) and has good dimensional stability.
In summary, PEEK materials have been widely used in aerospace, automotive, electronics, medical and other fields due to their excellent high temperature resistance, mechanical properties, chemical resistance, wear resistance and self-lubrication and many other properties.
